# Project name Location of project Emission Reductions (tCO2e) Description
1 Energy Conservation at Cement Plant Darkhan-Uul province 78,000tCO2/yr GHG emissions from the cement plant will be reduced by converting the clinker manufacturing process from wet type to dry type, and by introducing the advanced energy conserving technologies shown in yellow boxes in the below chart covering the entire cement manufacturing process.
2 10MW-scale Solar Power Generation for Stable Power Supply Gobi-Altai province, Taishir soum 17,537tCO2/yr 10MW-scale solar power generation system will be constructed in the neighboring site of the Taishir Hydropower Plant. The electricity generated will be sold to the national grid (Uliastai Altai grid) assisting the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) scheme. This solar power project will contribute to an urgent issue of stable power supply in conjunction with the shortage of expected power generation outputs from the 11MW Taishir hydropower, mitigation of GHG emissions, and abatement of serious air pollution.
3 Improvement of Thermal Insulation and Water Cleaning/Air Purge at Power Plant Ulaanbaatar 3000tCO2/yr Energy efficiency at Combined Heat and Power Plants #3 and #4 (CHPs 3 & 4) will be improved by using following technologies:

1) improvement of thermal insulation by using “Eco-AIM (e’-AIM) Method”, and

2) advanced maintenance of heat exchangers by using “Rakuchin Gun Device”.

4 Efficiency Improvement of Combined Heat and Power Plant by Thermal Insulation Ulaanbaatar 1,723 tCO2/year (CHP-3& CHP-4) This project under consideration aims to improve plant efficiency by means of thermal insulation installation of “Overwrapping Insulation Method (ECO-AIM)” at coal fired thermal power plants in Mongolia.

The installation method is just to roll the thermal insulation material, “Pyrogel XT”, over the deteriorated existing thermal insulation materials on the existing facilities.

This method also provides measures on the occupational safety and health such as avoiding asbestos scattering.

5 Distributed heat supply system using biomass and coal mixture combustion type boiler Ulaanbaatar 3,760 tCO2/year Air pollution due to coal stoves in Ger district of Ulaanbaatar affects public health seriously and CO2 emission accelerates climate change. Distributed heat supply system will be introduced to Ger district. Air pollution and CO2 emission will be reduced because the system uses mixture coal and solid biomass fuel. Solid biomass fuel consists of agricultural manure and sludge from a sewage treatment plant of the city.
