Ministers and Representatives from 16 JCM partner countries and Japan have participated the “3rd JCM Partner Countries’ High-level Meeting” held in 8 December, 2015 at Japan Pavilion in COP21 (Paris) as a side event. The Ministers and Representatives welcomed the progress in the JCM and shared their continuous will to further implement the JCM through mutual cooperation.

Remarks by Ms. Marukawa, Minister of the Environment, Japan

It is my great pleasure to welcome all Ministers and representatives of the JCM partner countries, and to have direct exchange of views today. Japan is promoting JCM to reduce GHG emissions by disseminating leading low-carbon technologies. This year, 4 new partner countries have joined JCM, resulting in 16 partners in total. In addition to the expansion of JCM partners, Japan is providing financial support to formulation of concrete projects for reduction of GHG emissions. So far, 50 projects are being implemented, among which 8 projects have been registered as JCM projects. Japan will further support the formation of projects, as well as work towards the issuance of JCM credits. JCM does not only “discuss” GHG emission reductions, but at the same time “realize” them. Our determination on realizing the global interests.
